We’re here, we made and we’re in one piece! It’s been a whirlwind of activity these past three days, really more like six with the chasing down of our visas and driving to Chicago twice, 14 hour flight, being thrown into classes with little knowledge of what’s going on…it’s been heavy… But it’s getting better each day, I can tell, and it’s only our second, so very good sign.
All the Korean teachers in our school are extremely nice and helpful. My desk mate, Isaac, has been a great resource for figuring out my class schedule and the lessons they are currently on and how best to approach them.
Bryan, is our main guide/trainer at the school and has been another great resource, from getting us a cell phone, taking us out to eat and being a general base of information for us.
And of course there is Sami, she lives one floor above us and was the first to take us out upon our arrival along with our director. She’s extremely nice and has been helping us get settled and showing us how to use the tech in our apartment (there are about 20 different buttons on our toilet).
We’ve met many other teachers, but have yet to really get to know them, however we will be starting Korean lessons with Rachael, the Korean grammar teacher, starting today at 1pm along with Megan. Megan is the other English teacher at the school, she got here about four days before us, so a slight jump start on us and was actually good friends with the couple that taught here just before us. All in all we have some great people we are working with, which is a great benefit to us and we truly look forward to learning from them all as we grow into the lifestyle and learn more about the culture, customs and tradition.
As always, we miss you all dearly and can’t wait to see you all again. ~Ian
