Just a few snapshots of some of my students. They are all great and extremely smart, although some need an extra push before fully exerting themselves. It’s been a really fun first 1 1/2 weeks and can only see it getting better.
We didn’t have much to do today as students were taking exams to determine if they will move up any levels when our new term starts next Monday. I wouldn’t be surprised to see most of them move up and we’ll have all new classes, really looking forward to that and starting our new books, which should allow us to create full lesson plans to get them done by the next term starting in March.
Tonight Chelsea and I made spaghetti! We went to Home Plus last night, which is the WalMart of the East as I see it. The store is massive and we were able to find pasta and marinara sauce among other things like…JAGER! I’m sure we’ll be heading back soon once we get paid next Monday and pick up some more things.
Along with next Monday’s payday, we’ll also be buying quite a few things off of the G Market website, which has everything you could want for super cheap. We’re looking to order a table, sofa, TV stand, desk chair and probably a lamp. We’ve found stuff we like on the site and all together should be $135 and no shipping charge! Not bad at all! Our apartment should start to feel like a home once we have those simple things in place, can’t wait.
For now we mostly just hang out in bed or try to sit at the horribly uncomfortable desk chairs we currently have. I don’t think anyone over 12 should be sitting on these things, they are so tiny! Things are starting to come together for us here in Dongtan though, so can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Till then. ~Ian
